Mature cubs of any species (including mammals, birds, reptiles and fish) tend to exhibit behaviors that differ from those of their immature counterparts. Mature cubs can demonstrate self-reliance, territoriality and sophisticated communication skills. In addition, mature cubs have better nutrition, physical development and social behaviors than immature cubs and they can often survive in harsher environments. Mature cubs can also be more adept at hunting and survival, making them actually more dangerous than their younger peers.
